Murphy Lacrosse Program | “Thunder and Lightning”

The Murphy Lacrosse Program, in association with the Plano East Lacrosse Association, invites you to join the “Thunder and Lightning” lacrosse team.

This recreational youth lacrosse program is designed for boys and girls from the 1st through 8th grades, who are enrolled in a Plano ISD Elementary or Middle School, which feeds into Plano East Senior High. Our objective is to create a developmental system, which will prepare our area youth to make a seamless transition as they become JV and Varsity players for Plano East Lacrosse. Youth outside the Plano East Cluster Schools are not excluded, but simply encouraged to participate in the league which feeds into his/her high school program. This philosophy is consistent with UIL Eligibility Requirements for high school athletic contests.

The PELA~Murphy Lacrosse Program is different from other lacrosse leagues in that, (1) we're under the supervision of Plano East Lacrosse Head Coach and Assistant Coaches, (2) we have actual Plano East lacrosse players assist in many of the practices, and (3) we have practices and home games right here in our own backyard (behind the Old Murphy City Hall / Fire Station).

We are currently registering players for the 2010 Spring Season. Practices will begin in late January or early February 2010. The number of practices, times, and locations will be published in mid to late January. The season will consist of 10 to 12 games, which will likely start in early March and continue through early May. The “Thunder” (boys) and “Lightning” (girls) will be comprised of players from two grades as follows: 1st+2nd, 3rd+4th, 5th+6th, and 7th+8th.

All registered players are required to provide their own equipment. Some loaner equipment may be available for new players to borrow and get a feel for the sport. For a list of required equipment and sources, please go the section labeled “Lacrosse Gear” on our website, http://www.murphylax.com
